Somebody once wrote me, asking, “There are always a lot of teachers and students of A Course in Miracles on the market, but there must be something that you've hooked into, or caught onto? Something that triggered a transformation or a major healing. So, that which was it?”
“Trust,” I said.
Consider your lifetime as it is apparently these days in terms of the story acim author. Just how do we answer the question; “Who do I trust? Where do I do believe my safety lies? How will I be sustained? Who's my source?” So when we speak about the last stage to the awakening being pure trust, it's simply about disengaging and withdrawing our faith and rely upon most of these made-up concepts, beliefs and ideas in the world. It's kind of like making a big house of cards, stacking on a single card after the other. Then the good wind comes along and poof, it's just blown over. It can't even stand a little gust of wind. It's so frail. It's so temporary. It's so transitory; It absolutely was this sense of placing rely upon the Spirit and withdrawing rely upon everything else; dozens of issues that were identified and learned as worldly accomplishments. Why should we rely upon those? Have they ever brought us lasting peace and happiness? Are they really trustworthy?It surely comes down seriously to the essence of who's my cousin? Can it be Spirit or matter? Can it be Spirit or form? Furthermore how many of us have tried trusting people? Has anybody tried this one?So you are asking the question, “If someone dies or is apparently dying of starvation, what does that say about their mind?” Where this is heading is always to the awareness that everything is mental. What this awakening will show you is that everything is mental and that everything is just a hallucination. That is a world of ideas and what we call manifest reality, is not reality at all. There's no distinction between thought and form. Jesus has to build his whole workbook in A Course In Miracles on making the text between thought and form. His lessons begin with, “Nothing I see means anything,” (W-1) and, “I have given everything I see all the meaning it's for me.” (W-2) Then, He works his way as much as number 4, “These thoughts do not mean anything&rdquo ;.Now, He's speaing frankly about thoughts. First He's speaing frankly about perception, then about our thoughts, then He returns with lessons 5,6,7,8,9 ... perception, perception, perception, perception, perception ... and then number 10, “My thoughts do not mean anything.” You will see he's attempting to melt everything together and show the last veil or stage of awakening, which is trust.
The Holy Spirit uses time for you to teach us there's no such thing as time, to take us back to that timeless moment that's the gateway to eternity. He uses symbols to instruct us they are all illusions and they are all equally meaningless. That's the approach to operation of Holy Spirit. The Spirit has to work with the mind to loosen the attachments from the investment in all kinds of things. What kind of things can you spend money on, these days?
